With the popularity of gel and veneer nails on the increase, it useful to know some handy hints not just when applying them but also removing them.
Removal of gel polishes may vary depending on what product you have previously used and are comparing Veneer to. From our experience, most gel polishes take about the same time to soak off, the secret is to use the removal solution from the same company, as these products are tried and tested with each other for the best results.
Gel polish does not dissolve or disperse like some other nail products, but it loosens from the nail plate and is then gently scraped away.
Some good pointers to help with Cuccio Veneer removal on an on-going basis:
Before applying the product use Cuccio Veneer Fuse (number 2). This product however can be over used and this will lead to a longer soak off time. Fuse is used to bond the Veneer to the natural nail but there is no need to apply this over the whole nail plate just along zone 1 (free edge) of the nail. 1 dip of the brush into the bottle will be sufficient for all 5 nails on the one hand then a second dip in the bottle for the 5 nails of the other hand.
It is also important how you cure the nails, if you are curing for longer than 30 seconds LED or 2 minutes UV, you will be over curing the product which again can lead to extended removal time. If the customer is a sunbed user (or sun-bather) this will also continue to cure any gel product they are wearing, making it more difficult to remove.
When it comes to the actual removal you do have to use Cuccio Conditioning Soak Off Solution to get the best results. Acetone alone is very strong but does not contain the added oils that will help to lift the product off quicker.
Take a 180 grit file to remove the entire top coat so there is no shine left on the nail. Shake the soak off solution to ensure the oils have been mixed into the remover. Saturate a cotton pad with the remover, place the pad over the product and then wrap with foil. The foil needs to be wrapped upwards over the top of the nail not under the nail. This will ensure that the solution stays in the correct place whilst soaking. I would recommend that you file 1 nail and get it wrapped up before you move onto the next. Keep the hands warm. Use a warm towel over the top of the hands. Leave them like this for 10 minutes.
After 10 minutes go to the first nail you wrapped and using the soak off remover tool, gently scrape away the excess products from the nail plate. This tool needs to be used from cuticle to free edge, so pulling the tool towards you. This should effectively remove all excess product. You will now be left with product free nails but also hydrated skin and soft tissue because of the oils in the remover.
